EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY

Part ONE – Overview

The East African Community (EAC) is an intergovernmental organization that comprises of eight partner states in East Africa and it was established with the aim of fostering regional integration, cooperation and development among its members with the head quarters in Arusha, Tanzania. The current members are;

      1. Democratic Republic of Congo
      2. Republic of Burundi
      3. Republic of Kenya
      4. Republic of Rwanda
      5. Republic of South Sudan
      6. Republic of Uganda
      7. Federal Republic of Somalia
      8. United Republic of Tanzania.

As per its official website, the EAC is structured into seven main Organs:

      1. The Summit
      2. The Council of Ministers
      3. The Co-ordinating Committee
      4. Sectoral Committees
      5. The East African Court of Justice
      6. The East African Legislative Assembly
      7. The Secretariat
